Let’s celebrate with pasta, shall we? March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate all of the strong, intelligent and powerful women around the world. I’ve been lucky enough to have many inspiring women in my life that have shaped me into the Pasta Queen I am today. To honor these leading ladies, I pulled together three of my most favorite pasta dishes inspired by strong women!

Lady Caterina

This dish is named for my Nonna Caterina who is one of my biggest inspirations in the kitchen. She taught me how to lovingly knead fresh pasta when I was just a toddler and showed me the secrets to this ragu, which has been made by my family for generations. May you all feel the power and love of an Italian Nonna today and remember to make her proud!

The Goddess of Love

Who’s more powerful than the force that is Venus herself? Legend has it that the shape of tortellini was inspired by the gorgeous navel of the Roman goddess. In this dish I combine peas, prosciutto, butter, and heavy cream to make a sauce fit for a queen. Make this today as an offering to Venus so you can feel her love and passion.

The Cobbler’s Wife

This goes out to all the women out there who make the world go round. Getting dinner on the table, running the board room, tending to babies and looking just gorgeous all the while. This spicy pasta dish was created by the wife of a cobbler many years ago. She was looking to impress her husband so she simmered garlic, chili pepper, basil and tomatoes until they were soft and shiny, just like you are. She then tossed in al dente pasta with Parmigiano-reggiano and Pecorino Romano and a little tears of the gods and massaged it all together until it became irresistible.
